Biology Degree?

My Biology Degree

I recently graduated and a lot of people ask me, "What will you do with a biology degree?"

There are not many job opportunities with having only a biology degree, but there are many jobs that require a strong science background and certificates. I could potentially be a high school science teacher through a lateral entry program and earn a teaching certificate while teaching. I don't really want to be a teacher, though. I would like to be a restaurant inspector at some point during my life because it would be interesting and I could be mobile. I don't want a job where I would be trapped in an office all day. Recently I saw a job advertisement for a brewery. Many biologists work in breweries because making beer is all microbiology. The job description asked for someone who is available to work 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The brewery basically wants someone to live for making beer. I don't want a job that encompasses my entire life and takes all of my time.

My plan for the next few months is to research how to earn certificates related to food safety, water quality and possibly livestock health.
